November is Osteoporosis Awareness Month across Canada.

What Is Osteoporosis?
logoOsteoporosis is a disease in which the bones become weak, fragile and brittle. Research shows osteoporosis is a result of deficiencies in calcium or vitamin D and hormonal changes. People with osteoporosis often suffer from fractures in the wrist, hip, or spine. It is referred to as the “silent thief” as bone loss occurs without presenting any symptoms.

Are You At Risk?
Osteoporosis Canada has created a checklist to gauge your risk for broken bones and osteoporosis. Alternatively, speak with your medical practitioner and open up a dialogue about osteoporosis.
