What is Physiotherapy Treatment?
At its core, physiotherapy addresses movement of the body. The goal of treatment is to enhance and restore motion and function to different parts of the body while improving quality of life. This holistic approach makes use of a variety of physical and physiological therapeutic techniques and activities.
How can a Physiotherapist help?
Physiotherapists are primary health care professionals that have advanced understanding of how the body moves. They are skilled in assessing and treating physical problems caused by illness, disease, sports injuries, work-related injuries, aging, and long periods of inactivity.
What should I expect from treatment at Life Therapies?
At our Ottawa clinic, we are focused on quality service and individualized treatments. Our physiotherapists focus on orthopaedic and sports injuries, or prenatal and postnatal care. Each session consists of a one-on-one treatment where the individual needs of the client are met through manual therapy, therapeutic exercises (including yoga), and education on how to manage your condition.
At your first appointment, a thorough medical history will be recorded and a biomechanical evaluation will be performed to determine the cause of your symptoms. Treatment is then tailored specifically to your needs and may consist of the following:
- Selective Functional Movement Assessments
- Postural and gait analysis and correction
- Muscle imbalance assessment and treatment
- Manual therapy mobilizations
- Foot Physiotherapy
- Manual physiotherapy
- Individualized exercises
- Therapeutic exercises and yoga
- Core stabilization and muscle re-education
- Dry Needling and Acupuncture
- Kinesiotape and sports taping
- Myofascial release
- Cranio-sacral therapy
- Education on posture, body mechanics, ergonomics, and pain management
At Life Therapies, we are highly-trained experts in physical function, movement and mobility, and who enjoy treating complex conditions. We perform comprehensive biomechanical and orthopaedic assessments to determine muscle imbalances, structural issues, and movement dysfunctions in order to provide you with a diagnosis and plan for treatment.
Treatments are always one-on-one and incorporate deep tissue and joint mobilization, as well as specific exercises to facilitate healing. We offer physiotherapy for the whole family, from 5 years to 105 years old. We are centrally located in the Westboro Village, Ottawa.
