Tamara Bond-Vlad, RPT, CMT
Registered Physiotherapist, Certified Manual Therapist
Tamara Bond-Vlad, co-owner and Physiotherapist with 20 years of clinical experience, is passionate about helping people heal from injuries, sprains, strains, post-surgery, and the demands that life places on our bodies.
Tamara graduated from Queen’s University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (Hons.). She has extensive experience treating a wide variety of orthopaedic conditions and sports injuries.
In 2015, Tamara became a Certified Manual Therapist which is a special designation within the physiotherapy profession. She is also studying Osteopathy at the Southern Ontario College of Osteopathy in Mississauga, Ontario.
Tamara’s belief in providing dedicated one-on-one client care developed early on in her career. It prompted her to start an orthopaedic home-care business, Ottawa’s On-The-Go Physiotherapy, in 2001.
In 2003, Tamara sold her business and headed south to California to work as the Head of the Physical Therapy Department at the Foot and Ankle Institute of Santa Monica. While there, she wrote an article titled “Physical Therapy Following Peripheral Nerve Surgeries” which was published in 2006 in the professional journal Clinics of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery.
Returning to Ottawa, Tamara joined Life Therapies in 2007 to work alongside her partner, Elliot Vlad, Osteopathic Manual Practitioner. Together they have melded traditional approaches to rehabilitation with osteopathic therapies, with excellent results.
In her practice, Tamara uses a hands-on approach that combines manual therapy, osteopathic techniques, and soft tissue release with corrective exercises. She is highly trained in the functional movement system having successfully completed a mentorship program in the United States in 2014. In addition to treating manually and with exercise, Tamara also uses acupuncture, dry needling, myofascial cupping, and various other modalities and techniques when needed to achieve optimal results.
Tamara enjoys treating a wide variety of orthopaedic conditions, with a special interest in the foot, ankle, pelvis, hips and spine.
When not working or in class, Tamara enjoys being a busy mother of four. With exercise being a life-long passion, she has completed one marathon and many half marathons and mini-triathlons, as well as becoming a yoga teacher in 2008. She strives for a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
