Soon-To-Be Hearing-Ear Service Dog
My name is Brennan and when I grow up I’m going to be a Hearing-Ear Service Dog. You can see from the patches on my vest that I’m still in training. I’m working hard, but I still make mistakes (like gently chewing on humans), so please be patient with me.
As part of my training, my human is taking me everywhere with her, so I can get used to different sights, sounds, smells, and other humans. This is so I won’t be afraid of things when I’m older and I can focus on my job. I come from a family of Service and Therapy dogs. Both my parents are therapy dogs and some of my brothers and sisters have been trained to be service dogs as well. My mom is a standard poodle and my dad is a black lab… that makes me a Labradoodle, so I’m hypoallergenic.
I was born in September 2017, so I’m still pretty young, but I’m learning as fast as I can. When I have my vest on, I’m working, and as much as I would love to say ‘hi’ to you, I need to be focused on my job. If you would like to say ‘hi’ to me, please ask my human (Dawn). If she says ‘yes’, she will take my vest off so I know I’m not working and can meet humans. It’s also important to my training to meet different humans… you all smell so different!
If you would prefer to not have me in the treatment room, please let the administrative staff know and they will tell my human so I can hangout somewhere else (usually with Christina where I help her manage the clinic… have to keep these humans organized). When I am in the treatment with my human, I’m very quiet and sometimes I snooze, so you might occasionally hear my puppy snores.
